DEUTSCHLAND 17 - THULE und VRIL Part 4: Nazi Mysticism
 
Fortsetzung VRIL Vril is a word from a science-fiction novel by Edward Bulwer-Lytton titled Vril: The Power of the Coming Race. The book was quite popular in the late 19th Century, and for a time the word "Vril" came to be associated with "life-giving elixirs". Indeed, the still popular English drink Bovril takes its name from a mixing of the word "Bovine" and "Vril". Vril is also a shortened form of "Vri-Il" which in the ancient Sumerian language translates as "Like God". In the book, Vril is a sort of power or energy possessed by an unusual and extremely powerful subterranean race. A fair number of readers believe the book is non-fiction, and it has become associated with conspiracy theories regarding surviving Nazis who roam the globe in flying saucers, Vril-powered rods (producing wildly potent death rays), supposedly Satanicly inspired Jesuit "Spiritual Exercises", and the fabled Lost Continents of Atlantis and Lemuria, to name but a few. VRIL SOCIETY The Vril Gesellschaft (Vril Society) also known as the 'Luminious Lodge' and "Brüder des Lichts", which means Brothers of the Light was said to have been founded to explore the origins of the Atlantean Aryan 'Root Race' described by Helena Blavatsky. Some people argue that the society never existed, and that associated tales are fiction - and many of the tales associated with the Vril Society (such as Nazi "flying discs") are at best 'speculative' - however there is little doubt that the group did actually exist. Founded as "The All German Society for Metaphysics" in 1921. The Society was formed by a group of women, Psychic mediums led by the Thule Gesellschaft (Thule Society) medium Maria Orsitch (Orsic) of Zagreb who claimed to have received communication from Aryan aliens living in Alpha Tauri, in the Aldebaran system since 1919. According to Orsitch, half billion years ago, the Aryans (known as the Elohim or Elder Race) began to colonize our solar system as Aldebaran's became uninhabiatble. Marduk, existing in what is today the asteroid belt, was (according to her revelations at least) the first to be colonized, then Mars. When they came to Earth, these Aryans were known as the Sumerians. Vril is the shortening of "Vri-Il" which in the ancient Sumerian language translates as "Like God". In Edward Bulwer-Lytton's The Power of the Coming Race, the subterranean people use the Vril Force to operate and govern the world (a few children armed with Vril-powered rods are said capable of exterminating a race of over 22 million threatening barbarians). Served by robots and able to fly on vril-powered wings, the vegetarian Vril-ya are - by their own reckoning - racially and culturally superior to everyone else on Earth, above or below the ground. At one point the narrator concludes (from linguistic evidence) that the Vril-ya are "descended from the same ancestors as the great Aryan family, from which in varied streams has flowed the dominant civilization of the world." The Vril Force or Vril Energy was said to be derived from the Black Sun, a big ball of "Prima Materia" which supposedly exists in the center of the Earth, giving light to the Vril-ya and putting out radiation in the form of Vril. The Vril Society believed that Aryans were the actual biological ancestors of the Black Sun. This force was known to the ancients under many names, and it has been called Chi, Ojas, Vril, Astral Light, Odic Forces and Orgone. In a discussion of the 28th degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry - called Knight of the Sun or Prince Adept - Albert Pike said, "There is in nature one most potent force, by means whereof a single man, who could possess himself of it, and should know how to direct it, could revolutionize and change the face of the world." This is the force that the Nazis and their inner occult circle were so desperately trying to unleash upon the world, for which the Vril Society had apparently groomed Hitler. A manifestation of the "Great Work" promulgated by the Adepts of secret societies throughout the ages. The Vril Society latched on to a very old Archetype already in the minds of alchemists and magicians, which was only re-interpreted, by Lytton, in light of that age of occult revival and scientific progress. The idea of mutation and transformation into a higher form of a "god-man" was envisioned, through the Vril-ya, in Buller-Lytton's The Power of the Coming Race. Lytton, himself, was an initiate of the Rosicrucians and was well versed in the arcane-Esoteric philosophies (and of course the greatest advances in the sciences of his day). Through his romantic works of fiction he expressed the conviction that there are beings endowed with superhuman powers. These beings will supplant us and bring about a formidable mutation in the elect of the human race. This is where the philosophy turns dangerous. The moment we speak of an elect and "illumined" or "enlightened" class which is above the general populace, you inevitably encounter racism and classism - with fascism in due course. One member of the Vril Society was Professor Karl Haushofer - a former employee of German military intelligence. Haushofer had been a mentor to Hitler as well as to Rudolph Hess. (Hess had been an assistant to Haushofer at the University of Munich.) Another Vril member was the second most powerful man in Nazi Germany: Heinrich Himmler, who became head of the dreaded SS. Himmler incorporated the Vril Society into the Nazi Occult Bureau. Yet another mystical group was the Edelweiss Society, which preached the coming of a 'Nordic messiah'. Herman Göring had become an active member of the Edelweiss Society in 1921 while living and working in Sweden. Göring believed Hitler to be the Nordic messiah. The Lodge's objective was to explore the origins of the Aryan race as described by Helena Blavatsky, and to perform exercises in concentration to awaken the forces of 'Vril'. Haushofer was a student of the Russian magician and metaphysician Gregor Ivanovich Gurdyev (George Gurdjieff). Both Gurdjeiff and Haushofer maintained that they had contacts with secret Tibetan lodges that possessed the secret of the 'Aryan Superman'. The Lodge included Hitler, Alfred Rosenberg, Himmler, Göring, and Hitler's subsequent personal physician Dr. Morell. It is also believed that Aleister Crowley and Gurdjieff sought contact with Hitler. Hitler's unusual powers of suggestion become more understandable if one keeps in mind that he had access to the 'secret' psychological techniques of the Esoteric lodges. Haushofer taught him the techniques of Gurdjieff which, in turn, were based on the teachings of the Sufis and the Tibetan lamas and familiarized him with the Zen teaching of the Japanese Society of the Green Dragon. The Vril Society allegedly not only taught these above mentioned exercises in concentration designed to awaken the forces of Vril, but that their main goal was to achieve Raumflug (Spaceflight) to reach Aldebaran. To achieve this Vril is said to have joined the Thule Gesellschaft and DHvSS (Men of the Black Stone) to fund an ambitious program involving an inter-dimensional flight machine based on Psychic revelations from the Aldebaran aliens. In 1922, Thule and Vril allegedly constructed Germany's first flight disc, the JFM (Jenseitsflugmaschine) or "Other world Flight Machine" in Munich for channeled flight testing that lasted two years. The project was led by W.O. Schumann of the Technical University of Munich, but the project was halted in 1924 with the machine dismantled and shipped to Messerschmitt's Augsburg facility where it was stored for future research. Professor Schumann developed a levitation unit from the research which was called the Schumann-Munich, or SM-Levitator. Members of the Vril Society are said to have included Adolf Hitler, Alfred Rosenberg, Heinrich Himmler, Hermann Göring and Hitler's personal physician Dr. Theodor Morell. It is believed by some that with Hitler in power in 1933, Thule Gesellschaft and Vril both received official state backing for continued disc development programs aimed at both spaceflight and possibly a war machine.  What is sure is that a RFZ (Rundflugzeug) or "Round Aircraft" series began in 1937. RFZ discs 1,2,3,4, and 6 were tested there (allegedly) under Vril supervision while Thule was helped by a special SS technical branch unit E-IV, which was tasked with developing alternative energies. Thule worked on a seperate disc at a secret location in NW Germany referred to as Hauneburg from 1935 on. As such their product was known as the H-Gerät (Hauneburg Device) but, according to some theorists, this was shortened to Haunebu in 1939 once the disc's Triebwerk (Thrustwork) engine was perfected. Haunbu I was briefly designated as RFZ-5 when Thule moved from Hauneburg to Arado-Brandenburg. The Thule Triebwerk was reputedly a revolutionary EMG (electro-magnetic-gravitc) engine also known as a Tachyonator 7. It used a modified Hans Coler Magnetstromapparat (a gravitic free-energy battery) turned into a converter that was coupled to a Van De Graaf band generator and a Marconi Dynamo (spinning tank of heated mercury). Once activated, the Triebwerk produced strong rotating electro-magnetic fields that affected gravity. The rotating fields also turned the dynamo creating a reduction of mass at incredible rpm's. Vril also is alleged to have developed its own Triebwerk by 1941 with the RFZ-7 which was re-designated Vril-1 Jäger (Fighter). After 1941, Hitler forbade secret societies so both Thule and Vril were documented under the SS E-IV unit. Vril also became secretly known as "Die Kette" - "The Chain" which refers to their mental links to their circle of members. Vril had strong contacts with Canaris of the Abwehr, the Ahnenerbe (SS Occult Bureau), and worked with the engineers at Arado. It is believed by some that both the Thule and Vril discs were built from 1939-1945. According to this theory, Thule produced the Haunebu I-III series of large discs while the Vril series were more concerned with resuming channeled flight. By 1944, construction of a Vril 7 Geist (Ghost) channeled flight disc was achieved as well as a huge 139 meter long cylindrical mothership called the Andromeda-Gerat (Andromeda Device). A special unit named Sonderbüro (Special Bureau) 13 is said to have been created by the Luftwaffe to "officially" investigate strange aerial phenomenon over the Reich but "unofficially" was created to cover-up these reports of flight discs and flying cigars. In September 1944 a Me-262 jet pilot allegedly caught site of one of the Andromeda craft and reported it. Sonderburo 13 immediately tried to feign ignorance of such a device. Meanwhile, as the Allies advanced further into the Reich, Vril allegedly planned to evacuate its technology to bases outside of Europe, especially to a secret Antarctic base - Base 211, while their own personal plan was to evacuate their circle of mediums to the stars by channeled flight of the Andromeda. They left in March 1945 and were never found again.  Sack AS.6V1 The reality of the "Nazi UFOs" has been highly controversial to say the least - laughable is more like it! Though it is undisputable that the Nazi's were indeed working on many advanced rocket and jet designs by the wars end, including some "flying discs" (such as the Focke-Wulf VTOL Project and the Sack AS-6 V1), no hard historical evidence about the existence of the highly advanced technology mentioned above has been presented so far. Nazi Mysticism Nazi Mysticism, sometimes called Esoteric Hitlerism by practitioners, is a philosophical undercurrent of Fascism and National Socialism (Nazism).  High ranking Nazi officials such as Heinrich Himmler are widely known to have been interested in mysticism and the paranormal. The role played by occult in the development of Nazism and its ideals was identified by outsiders at least as early as 1940, with the publication of Lewis Spence's Occult Causes of the Present War. The concentration of Nazi Mysticism is on the National Socialists' race-specific pre-Christian (also contemporary Hindu) "pagan" mythologies, and the inclusion of Adolf Hitler in the network of these mythologies. The Nazi party saw the conscience as a false pseudoscientific term of Jewish origin. Heinrich Himmler The foundation of Nazi Mysticism was Heinrich Himmler, who, more than any other high official in the Third Reich (including Hitler) was fascinated by Aryan (and not just Germanic) racialism and Germanic Odinism.  Heinrich Himmler The creation of an Aryan race religion, based on the idea of a descended race of god-men from Atlantis who had escaped the sinking continent, landing first in the Himalayas before resettling in Northern Europe, where they forgot their heritage and became weak by intermingling with "lesser" beings, was the ultimate aim of the Nazi regime. The goal of the Third Reich wasn't nearly so mundane as the political and economic conquest of the Soviets, but nothing less than the recreation of that primordial god-race, whose blood ran most strongly (according to Nazi mythos) in the Germanic peoples. And that goal ran hand in hand with the aim of the complete annihilation of all the "lesser" races. Himmler actively supported a German expedition to Tibet to search for the origins of the Aryan race. To this end, the expedition leader, Ernst Schäfer, had his anthropologist Bruno Beger make face masks and skull and nose measurements. Giulio Evola, Benito Mussolini's ideologist who tried to move Mussolini (unsuccessfully) towards paganism and away from concord with the Vatican, was also an influence on post-war Nazi Mysticism in his idea that powerful men such as Mussolini and Hitler had discovered the secrets of power that would allow them to bring in the "culture of the future". To this end, Himmler, formed the SS partly to be an Aryan stud project: Each was selected for physical characteristics and encouraged to breed well and breed often. Young German women were encouraged to bear children for these strapping blonde-haired, blue-eyed lads - marriage was an optional formality. And what of the children of such unions - some 11,000+ between 1935 and 1945. They were planned for as well, with the creation of the Labensbaum, a huge nursery project that cared for the infants and either raised them in state-run institutions or farmed them out to good Nazi families. All of this was done with a ruthless warrior efficiency, a pseduo-Darwinian ethic of holy racial survival which very clearly contradicted some of the basic tenets of Christianity (Hitler spoke of it as "wash[ing] off the Christian veneer"). So how did such a philosophy take such hold in a traditionally Christian country? Through three basic inroads: * Anti-Semitism, while by no means basic to Christianity, was never-the-less a common idea throughout Europe. It fit in perfectly with Hitler's racial ethos, and provided the German people with a common enemy: The Jews. (Let me just say here that anti-Semitism has never made any sense to me. I can understand, without condoning, garden-variety racism: 'Othering' another people, considering them inferior and filthy, has been an unfortunate part of human society since its beginning. But the idea that Jews are both inferior and at the same time clever enough to be running things and ruining the lives of "deserving Aryan families"... Well, the contradiction is so clear... it frankly makes no sense at all!) * Unlike the later Communist regimes, Hitler didn't make the mistake of simply obliterating Christianity, leaving a void in the name of rationalism. Hitler's new state religion replaced the pomp of Christendom, dulled by tradition and long use, with a new set of rituals and pageantry, overflowing with mythic significance and sustained by revolutionary fervor. Huge rallies with parades of warriors in Teutonic armor, speeches that frothed with excitement, and a fully-formed religion that mimicked so many themes familiar to a Christian audience - martyrs, a chosen people, and a Messianic leader - couldn't help but be intoxicating. * And the most important feature: Nazism told the people that they were innately superior and deserving of better than they had. The fierceness of the old Teutonic heritage had always had an uneasy truce with the Christian virtues of humility and repentance; here was an ethic that required no humiliating servitude. Hitler presented them with an ancient Golden Age come again, and an assurance that they were deserving of it through no merit beyond birth; how could he not have their allegiance? The Hitler Youth was brought up singing hymns to Hitler and the Reich, and about the "greatest race on earth." Nazi Mysticism A Prayer to Hitler Führer, mein Führer, von Gott mir gegeben, beschütz und erhalte noch lange mein Leben Du hast Deutschland errettet aus tiefster Not, Dir verdank ich mein täglich Brot Führer, mein Führer, mein Glaube, mein Licht Führer mein Führer, verlasse mich nicht  This was a prayer offered to orphans at orphanages. This roughly translates to: Führer, my Führer, given to me by God, protect me and I would yet receive a long life you have rescued Germany out of its deepest need, to you I owe my daily bread Führer, my Führer, my belief, my light Führer my Führer, you would leave me not Such was the strength of belief in the occult and it's potential power, that Himmler ordered the construction of a spiritual Valhalla deep below his SS fortress at Wewelsberg in Westphalia. He purchased this former ruin in 1934 and had it rebuilt over a number of years at a cost of some 13 million Reich Marks. It was dedicated to the cult and belief system of the SS, the Teutonic Knights and other mystical/occult doctrines. Below the castle's elaborate main banqueting hall he ordered the construction of a 'Hall of the Dead', supposedly to house urns containing the ashes and crests of his twelve closest 'disciples' when they died. This consisted of a circular chamber with twelve low stone platforms around its walls. In the centre of the room, in a circular depression accessed by three steps, was a form of altar. This alter or dais was the focal point of the room. Another school of thought is, any attempts to invoke whatever dark, mystical powers lay within the 'Black Sun' would be carried out here. Twelve Initiates would stand, one on each of the stone platforms against the walls facing the central dais. Each one concentrating, summoning up part of the necessary energy and focusing, channelling the power to the celebrant, the high priest, probably Himmler in person. Certain of these ceremonies required human Blood Sacrifice, which presented no difficulty; the concentration camps and prisons were full of them. A small group of victims was kept at the fortress for this purpose. There is no positive evidence that any dark powers were actually released during these hellish rituals, but, depending on your religious persuasion and how one views the conduct of the war, perhaps they were. One thing is certain, if they were not, it wasn't for the lack of trying. The emblem of the 'Black Sun' was essentially an elaborate mandalla, like a spoked wheel surrounded by Runic symbols. It is, even today, forbidden to belong to this order or even display the insignia in Germany. Early influences In 1912 a group of highly anti-Semitic German mystics formed the Germanenorden (Order of the Teutons). The Germanenorden was a mystic society based on proof of Aryan ancestry. The biographer Ian Kershaw does not classify it as mystic society but as a "völkische" organization. Founding members of the order included Theodor Fritsch, Philipp Stauff (pupil of Guido von List) and Hermann Pohl (Pohl later formed the Walvater Teutonic Order of the Holy Grail in 1915). Many members of the Germanenorden would go on to achieve high-ranking positions within the Nazi party. In 1915, Pohl was joined by Rudolf Glauer. Glauer, also known as Rudolf Freiherr von Sebottendorf, came to Germany with a Turkish passport and was a practitioner of sufi meditation and astrology. Glauer is known to have been an admirer of the rabidly anti-semitic Lanz von Liebenfels and Guido von List. Glauer was a wealthy man (the source of his wealth is unknown) and quickly became a Grand Master of the Bavarian Order in 1918. Later that year, he founded the Thule Society with Pohl's approval. The Thule Society had a number of highly positioned individuals in the Nazi party, although Hitler himself never became a member. However, it was a member of the Thule Society, dentist Dr. Friedrich Krohn, who designed the Swastika flag of the Nazi Party. Perhaps the most significant Thule influence on Hitler came from Dietrich Eckart. Eckart was the wealthy publisher of the newspaper In Plain German. He was a committed occultist as well as a member of the Thule Society's inner circle. While no direct connection between Eckart and Hitler has been documented, he is believed to have taught Hitler a number of persuasive techniques (some possibly mystical in nature). So profound was the influence, that Mein Kampf was dedicated to Eckart. The Vril Society, or Luminous Lodge, has no documented activities until 1915, but is believed to have been founded by Russian magician and metaphysician Gergor Ivanovich Gurdyev (also known as George Gurdjieff). The Vril Society was reportedly founded to explore the Atlantean origins of the Aryan race. The Society taught exercises in concentration designed to awaken the forces of Vril. Members of the Vril Society are believed to have included Hitler, Alfred Rosenberg, Heinrich Himmler, Hermann Göring and Hitler's personal physician Dr. Theodor Morell. Other Influences General Karl Haushofer was a university professor and director of the Munich Institute of Geopolitics, as well as an avid student of Gurdjieff. He is believed to have studied Zen Buddhism and initiated at the hands of Tibetan Lamas. Further, he worked closely with Hitler while he was imprisoned and working on Mein Kampf. Haushofer and Gurdjieff claimed to have had contact with secret Tibetan Lodges that possessed the secret of the "Superman," an idea that would become central to the eugenics movement of the Nazi Party. It is said that Aleister Crowley and Gurdjieff sought contact with Hitler, but actual contact is unconfirmed. Hitler would later go on to reject many German mystics, openly ridiculing them, particularly practitioners of Freemasonry, Theosophy and Anthrosophy. The Nazi party actively discouraged certain mystical secret societies, in fact executing a number of high-ranking mystics in Europe, particularly members of the Freemasons and Rosicrucians. The Nazi Occult Bureau The Ahnenerbe Society, also referred to as the Nazi Occult Bureau, was dedicated primarily to the research of proving the superiority of the Aryan race but was also involved in occult practices. Founded in 1935 by Himmler, the Bureau became involved in searching for Atlantis and the Holy Grail (and is believed to be the basis for the Nazis in the Indiana Jones series of movies).  Post War Nazi Mysticism With the fall of the Third Reich, Nazi Mysticism took off as Hitler, who had died at the end of the war, was now able to be deified. Savitri Devi was the first major exponent of post-war Nazi Mysticism, and connected Hitler's Aryan ideology to that of the pro-independence Indians (specifically Hindus) such as Subhas Chandra Bose. For her, the Swastika was an especially important symbol, as it symbolized the Aryan unity amongst the Hindus and Germans (and was also a symbol of good fortune for the Tibetans). Devi integrated Nazism into a broader cyclical framework of Hindu history, and called Hitler an avatar of Vishnu (preparing the way for Kalki) and the "Man against Time," having an ideal vision of returning his Aryan people to an earlier, more perfect time, and also having the practical wherewithal to fight the destructive forces forestalling his vision from fruition - a combination of the best traits of Akhenaton (a vision, but ineffectual) and Genghis Khan (violence, but senseless), without their faults. The next major figure in post-war Nazi Mysticism is Miguel Serrano, a Chilean diplomat. He wrote both The Golden Ribbon - Esoteric Hitlerism and Adolf Hitler, the Last Avatar. He believed that Hitler was in Shambhala, an underground centre in Antarctica (formerly at the North Pole and Tibet), where he was in contact with the Hyperborean gods and from whence he would someday emerge with a fleet of UFOs to lead the forces of light (the Hyperboreans, sometimes associated with Vril) over the forces of darkness (inevitably including, for Serrano, the Jews) in a last battle and inaugurating a Fourth Reich. He also connected the Aryans and their Hyperborean gods to the Sun and the Allies and the Jews to the Moon, and also had a special place in his ideology for the SS, who, in their quest to recreate the ancient race of Aryan god-men, he thought were above morality and therefore justified in their cruel deeds. Modern Neo-Nazism is often linked to Ásatrú (often unfairly), and the black metal scene. Mystic influences often appear in modern Nazi music, particularly references to artifacts such as the Spear of Longinus - which legend has it was the spear that pierced Christ's side at the crucifixion. Occult-obsessed Nazis have been featured in the Indiana Jones films, and in the Hellboy comic books and movie. Nazi Flying Disc Since 1950 there were many claims about alleged German developments of revolutionary saucer-shaped crafts able to fly with incredible performances, from a sort of "supersonic helicopter" to hard-to-believe interstellar spaceships. These craft are believed by some to be the same "flying saucers" (later named UFOs) sighted by many people all around the world since 1947. According to the many would-be "inventors" and enthusiasts of this theory, UFOs would not be of extraterrestrial origin but man-made. The "German saucers" are often known also as the "V-7 legend": this comes from a reportedly circular aircraft named "V-7" that is claimed to have flown in Prague on February 14, 1945. The conventional view of history is that, while the Germans possessed some remarkable and deadly weapons such as the V-l, the V-2 and the jet-engined Messerschmitt ME-262 fighter, their technological innovations did not extend much further than that. Indeed, serious historians treat claims of fantastic advances in Nazi technology with the utmost disdain. There are other views however... and the story goes like this In 1952, a former Luftwaffe engineer named Rudolph Schriever gave a series of interviews to the West German press in which he claimed to have designed a "Flying Disc" during the war. Schriever had been an engineer and test pilot for the Heinkel factory in Eger. In 1941, he began to toy with the idea of an aircraft that could take off vertically, thus eliminating the need for runways, which were vulnerable to enemy bombing. By June the following year, he had built and test-flown a working model of his design, and work immediately began on a full-size fifteen-foot version. In mid-1944, Schriever was transferred to the BMW plant near Prague, Czechoslovakia, where he was joined by an engineer from the rocket site at Peenemunde named Walter Miethe, another engineer named Klaus Habermohl and an Italian physicist from the aeronautical complex at Riva del Garda, Dr Giuseppe Belluzzo. Together, it is claimed, they built an even larger, piloted version of the disc, featuring a domed pilot's cabin sitting at the centre of a circular set of multiple wings driven by a turbine engine mounted on the disc's vertical axis. The German disc programme allegedly went under the title 'Projekt Saucer'. According to the military historian Major Rudolph Lusar, Schriever's disc consisted of "a wide-surface ring which rotated around a fixed, cupola-shaped cockpit". The ring contained "adjustable wing-discs which could be brought into appropriate position for the take-off or horizontal flight". The Model 3 flying disc is claimed to have had a diameter of 138 feet and a height of 105 feet. According to Schriever, the finished disc was ready for test-flying early in 1944, but was destroyed by its builders to prevent it from falling into the hands of the advancing Allies. According to the story, Schriever and his colleagues fled as the BMW plant was taken by Czechoslovakian patriots. In spite of Schriever's claim, Renato Vesco, who studied aeronautical engineering at the German Institute for Aerial Development and during the war was sent to work at Fiat's underground installation at Lake Garda in northern Italy, states that a highly advanced supersonic disc-shaped aircraft called the Kugelblitz was allegedly test-flown near the Nordhausen underground rocket complex in February 1945. Also known as the V-7, this machine was said to have climbed to a height of 37,600 feet in just three minutes, and is claimed by 'true believers' to have reached a speed of 1,218 mph. This craft and the technicians who built it were apparently seized by the Russians and taken to Siberia, where the disc project continued under Soviet control. While Vesco concedes that the hard evidence for a German flying-disc programme is "very tenuous" (non-existant is more accurate), he notes that "the senior official of a 1945 British technical mission revealed that he had discovered German plans for 'entirely new and deadly developments in air warfare' ". Vesco claimed that these plans must obviously have gone beyond normal jet aircraft designs, as both sides already had jet-powered aircraft in production and operational service by the end of the war. Moreover, before Rudolf Schriever died some fifteen years after the war he had become convinced that the large numbers of post-war UFO sightings were evidence that his designs had been built and developed. On 2 May 1980, another man claimed to the German press that he had worked on Project Saucer. Heinrich Fleißner, then 76 years old, told Neue Presse magazine that he had been a technical consultant on a jet-propelled, disc-shaped aircraft that had been built at Peenemunde from parts manufactured in a number of other locations. Fleißner also claimed that Goering had been the patron of the project and planned to use the disc as a courier plane, but that the Wehrmacht had destroyed most of the plans in the face of the Allied advance. According to Vesco, the Austrian inventor Viktor Schauberger, after being kidnapped by the Nazis, designed a number of disc-shaped aircraft for the Third Reich between 1938 and 1945. The saucers were powered by what Schauberger called 'liquid vortex propulsion' which he explained as follows: 'If water or air is rotated into a twisting form of oscillation known as "colloidal", a build-up of energy results, which, with immense power, can cause levitation.' It would be interesting to know the extent of the truth of these claims, because both scientific facts and principles seem to lie in ruins if what Schauberger says about Nazi UFOs is even half true. NOTE I apologise in advance for the length of the following quote from Vladimir Terziski's 'Half a Century of the German Moon Base 1942 - 1992'. I wouldn't usually give so much space to such nonsense, but Terziski's so-called 'documentaries' have clearly done more than anything else to talk up the whole "Nazi UFO" mythos. And he's done it very efficiently, too. This material amounts to another form of Revisionism, in which the Nazis won in the end. "The Germans landed on the Moon as early as probably 1942, utilizing their larger exoatmospheric rocket saucers of the Miethe and Schriever type. The Miethe rocket craft was built in diameters of 15 and 50 meters, and the Schriever Walter turbine powered craft was designed as an interplanetary exploration vehicle. In my extensive research of dissident American theories about the physical conditions on the Moon I have proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that there is atmosphere, water and vegetation on the Moon, and that man does not need a space suit to walk on the Moon. A pair of jeans, a pullover and sneakers are just about enough. Everything NASA has told the world about the Moon is a lie and it was done to keep the exclusivity of the club from joinings by the third world countries. All these physical conditions make it a lot more easier to build a Moon base. Ever since their first day of landing on the Moon, the Germans started boring and tunneling under the surface, and by the end of the war there was a small Nazi research base on the Moon. The free energy tachyon drive craft of the 'Haunibu-1' and 'Haunibu-2' type were used after 1944 to haul people, materiel and the first robots to the construction site on the Moon. When Russians and Americans secretly landed jointly on the Moon in the early fifties with their own saucers, they spent their first night there as guests of the... Nazi underground base. In the sixties a massive Russian - American base had been built on the Moon, that now has a population of 40,000 people, as the rumor goes. According to the authors of an underground German documentary movie about the Thule Society [presumably 'UFO Secrets of the Third Reich'], the only produced craft of the 'Haunibu-3' type - the 74 meter diameter naval warfare dreadnought - was chosen for the most courageous mission of this whole century - the trip to Mars. The craft was of saucer shape, had the bigger 'Andromeda' tachyon drives, and was armed with four triple gun turrets of large naval caliber (three inverted upside down and attached to the underside of the craft, and the fourth on top of the crew compartments). A volunteer suicide crew of Germans and Japanese was chosen, because everybody knew that this journey was a one-way journey with no return. The large intensity of the electro-magnetogravitic fields and the inferior quality of the metal alloys used then for the structural elements of the drive, was causing the metal to fatigue and get very brittle only after a few months of work of the drive. The flight to Mars departed from Germany one month before the war ended - in April 1945... One question, that I have not answered yet in the affirmative is how were the Germans able to regenerate the air inside the craft for 8 months for this big crew... Quite probably they were using advanced life support systems, developed initially for their larger Walter turbine and free energy submarines, that were cruising the oceans without resurfacing. The radio message with the mixed news was received by the German underground space control center in "Neu Schwabenland" and by their research base on the Moon." Terziski doesn't let historical or scientific facts - or even common sense - interfere with his tales of "an 'alien tutor race' that secretly began cooperating with certain German scientists in the late 1920s in underground bases and began to introduce their concepts of philosophical, cultural, and technological progress", he maintains that "antigravity research began in the 1920s with the first hybrid antigravity circular craft, the RFZ-1, constructed by the secret Vril Society. In 1942-43 a series of antigravity machines culminated in the giant 350-foot-long, cigar-shaped Andromeda space station, which was constructed in old Zeppelin hangars near Berlin by E4, the research and development arm of the SS." It seems that the latest developments of the Nazi UFO legend, from its original modest claims and beginnings has it "boldly going where no conspiracy theory has gone before..." including claims of Nazi space journeys to the Moon, Mars and even the stars. The whole subject seems to grow more extreme - and more unbelievable - with each passing decade.  A real Nazi 'UFO' - the Sack AS-6 in a hangar at Brandis circa 1944 This piston engine clunker is hardly the interplanetary craft described by 'Nazi UFO' conspiracy theorists who claim that the Nazi's had undertaken successful manned missions to the Moon and Mars in their fleet of 'Flying Discs'... Besides the claims of would-be inventors, wild rumours, and the claims of out-and-out crack-pots, there are few original first-hand historical documents about the development of saucer-shaped aircraft by the Nazis, though some did exist - though not as advanced as some would like to believe. The supporters of the saucers' reality say that most but not all documents and blueprints were destroyed by the Nazis before surrender or captured by the Allied and never released, due to their extreme strategic importance. Investigation for locating possible undisputable sources is still running.  Levitating Stone (Hinzugefügt) The reality of the "Nazi UFOs" has been highly controversial to say the least - laughable is more like it! Though it is undisputable that the Nazi's were indeed working on many advanced rocket and jet designs by the wars end, including some "flying discs" (such as the Sack AS-6 [pictured above] and the Focke-Wulf VTOL Project), no hard historical evidence about the existence of the highly advanced technology mentioned above has been presented so far. DISCLAIMER It should be noted that belief in "Nazi UFOs" is in no way connected with Neo-Paganism, Wicca, and/or the occult in general. The subject has only been included here as an oddity - an aberration believed only by the most rabid "conspiracy nuts" - that is sometimes linked to the Vril Society, and less commonly, to the Thule Society, both genuinely occultic groups.
